What is used to make e-liquid for electric cigarettes?
eLiquid and eJuice is vaporized to produce the flavor and throat hit you receive with an electric cigarette. The foundation ingredient in every eLiquid is Vegetable Glycerin (VG) and/or Propylene Glycol (PG).
Electric Cigarette e-liquid VG/PG Defined
Propylene Glycol (PG) is among the most frequently utilized base for e-Liquid. It’s a variety of alcohol being used in food coloring, toothpaste, mouthwash, shampoos, soaps and conditioners. It has humectant properties, which would mean that it retains moisture.
A handful of individuals might be hypersensitive to PG. Symptoms include stomach pains, sore throat and headaches. If you experience these symptoms, they could be an allergic reaction to PG or could possibly be tobacco withdrawal symptoms. Tobacco withdrawal symptoms will minimize within a week or two. PG allergies won’t.
Vegetable Glycerin (VG) is also utilized as a base for eLiquid. It’s an ingredient that is derived from vegetable oil and is generally found in food, pharmaceuticals, moisturizers and soap. It similarly functions as a humectant to retain moisture.
Persons who are hypersensitive to PG, switch to VG. It’s a non-chemical occurring product with a lot fewer potential side effects. You can find USPS Vegetable Glycerin at your local vitamin retailer or drugstore for DIY eLiquid.
VG is thicker than PG and produces a significantly better vapor. DIYers thin it by diluting it with distilled water or vodka.
e-Liquid for your Electric Cigarette
If you buy an ecig with a cartomizer, you may likely not know what type of eLiquid you’re inhaling. Manufacturers don’t usually include comprehensive facts pertaining to the ingredients of their cartridges but times are changing. More and more manufacturers are realizing the advantages of partnering with a quality eLiquid manufacturer and are beginning to do so. If this vital to you be sure to take a look at our list of reputable eLiquid suppliers.
The preferred way to have some control over your eLiquid is to make it yourself or buy bulk from an American or UK supplier. DIY electric cigarette e-liquid is the least expensive and most flexible option but it can take a little work.
e-Liquid Flavors for Electric Cigarettes
Of course you would prefer your electric cigarette to taste equivalent to a traditional cigarette. eLiquid is available in tobacco and menthol flavors but unlike tobacco cigarettes, various other flavors are also available on the market. Many brands will offer you 2-4 tobacco flavored selections and some brands also have fruit, chocolate and coffee flavors. If you purchase an e-cig with a refillable cartridge, you can vary the flavor to your taste with a wide variety of flavored bulk or DIY eLiquid.
Electric Cigarette eLiquid Throat Hit, Strong or Mild?
“Throat hit” is the term normally used to describe the actual feel of the vapor as you inhale it. The same as a tobacco cigarette, some are strong and some are mild. If you’re accustom to a strong “hit” like in a Marlboro Red or Kool, choose with a higher nicotine eLiquid. I smoked Newport Lights and have discovered 11mg to be the closest to throat hit. A word of warning for beginners: most people have a inclination to vape a great deal at in the beginning. If you begin using a high nicotine eLiquid and vape more than you would smoke a traditional cigarette, you may possibly experience nicotine overdose side effects.
A safer way to amp up the throat hit is to put in a few drops of vodka to your DIY eLiquid.
Electric Cigarette e-Liquid Vapor, Heavy or Light?
Beginning electric cigarette smokers feel they have to duplicate a rich solid vapor the equivalent to a tobacco cigarette. Personally, I put extra value in the throat hit and flavor. Of course, I like to see the vapor but I believe it’s more important to taste and feel like a tobacco cigarette than look like one. None-the-less, I still expect to see vapor.
VG makes more vapor than PG. It does have a tendency to diminish the flavor a little in benefit of vapor but a couple of drops go along way.

Unfortunately in California, smokers tried an average of 12 to 14 times before they were able to quit for good!
Let's face it smokers are in a bad situation. Besides spending over $1500 a year on tobacco cigarettes and dealing with tougher restrictions, smokers get pressure from their spouse, kids and friends about quitting. They risk heart disease, tumors and cancer. They experience yellow teeth, bad breath and they smell like smoke.
What makes the situation worst, is when they do finally decide to quit they experience tobacco and nicotine withdrawal symptoms, weight gain, irritability and lack on concentration.
All these reasons, make electric cigarettes a very interesting alternative to gum, patches and prescription drugs.
But buyer beware, the FDA has not approved electric cigarettes because no comprehensive tests have been conducted yet. You can read the FDA report here.
